  • Purpose
    • It aims to contribute in Korea’s economic development and to promote friendship between the members by strengthening the competitiveness of steel industry and seeking sustainable growth.
  • Major Activities
    • Forming public opinion and support policies in steel industry
      • Determine difficulties of members in such areas as trade, environment and tax system and reflect them on policies.
      • Hold meetings and seminars according to industrial classification and fields.
      • Function-Enhance the technical functions of each consultative group.
      • Increase efficiency in distribution and circulation.
      • Support technical development and demand creation of high-end functional steel.
    • Research and conduct trend analysis of domestic and foreign steel industry.
      • Research on short term supply and demand of steel and trend on steelㆍmaterials.
      • Provide analysis data of steel industry trend.
      • Analyze the business performance of steel industry.
    • Collect steel related statistics and distribute the data.
      • Research on steel statistics(designated statistics, trade statistics, industry statistics etc.)
      • Take inventory on Corrision-Resistant Carbon Steel Flat Products.
      • Publish annals of steel statistics and special steel statistics.
    • International relations with worldwide steel industry
      • Research on import and export trend in steel industry and foreign market trend.
      • Seek international cooperation with steel industries in major areas such as China, Japan and South East Asia.
      • Strengthen ties with international organizations such as World Steel Association.
    • Green Growth and technical cooperation
      • Build counter plan for UN Climate Change Convention.
      • Seek for expanding ways to recycle by-products.
      • Hold technical conventions and interchange associations.
      • Research and provide information on statistics related to production capacity, facility investment, and energy.
    • Develop human resources and operate education programs
      • Operate Steel Industry Human Resources Development Consultative Body.(consists of business, academic and research sectors)
      • Manage Steel Industry Training Innovation Center
      • Conduct specialized training courses for different areas of steel industry
    • Improve the image of steel industry
      • Hold commemoration events on Steel Day (commemoration ceremony, marathon etc.)
      • Hold New Year celebration.
      • Hold workshops to stabilize labor-management relations.
      • Publish periodicals such as Steel News.
